Kinja'd!!!

I ordered a couple of items that are in stock and chose the free 5-8 day delivery. They’re telling me that I should receive them towards the end of April...

I bought one of those over 10 years ago.  Still using it.  Had to replace the battery a few years ago as it swelled up a little, otherwise, smooth sailing.

Depends on what it is. I’ve gotten most things in regular time, but some computer parts I ordered will be 2-3  weeks. Amazon is currently paying more money to get their employees to shift to grocery warehouses .

I found one in the basement in a box of junk I bought at the Goodwill Outlet. The battery was swollen, and it looks like the previous owner tried to get it out but gave up. I’ve got the small screwdrivers and a awesome spudger made out of Inconel that let me open it and get the old battery out. I’ve ordered the new battery and was hoping to have this thing up and running in a week, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen...

I ordered a battery for the remote shown above as well as an internal USB splitter/hub thingy. Hopefully they’re just telling me the worst case scenario and that I’ll get these things earlier, but I understand why it may take some time and won’t freak out about it. I don’t really need these items right now as I’m just fixing junk that I found in the basement, but it would be nice to get them in a week or two.

Apparently they have a cult around them and have retained some value. I don’t recall my replacement being especially difficult - I am not exactly an electrical expert, and I was able to do it myself. No apparent swelling with the new battery.

On the Amazon side, I have a food subscription that was delayed a few days, I suspect that’ll be a new normal while idiots hoard sanitizer and TP.

You should try searching for surgical masks....

Here’s the old one. The PO smashed it up pretty good and gave up, but not before breaking the latch on the battery cover. Oh well. I can live with that.

The One seems to be quite popular and has good reviews so I figured that it was worth saving. I’ve got a bunch of other Harmony units, and they’re great for using cheap devices for which I didn’t get the original remotes . I have yet to find a single device I couldn’t get working with a Harmony. I did have a little trouble with two different versions of the software on my computer, but once that was resolved they’ve been troubled-free.

Funny you should mention that. I bought a bunch last year when doing a woodworking project, so like TP and bottled water, I’m actually doing OK in that regard.

Come to think of it, I might have caused similar harm to the old battery trying to remove it as well. That image triggers a memory. But once removed, it was simple.

I bought a new LED TV back around 2009 (when those were a cool thing) and decided I’d also get a cool remote, as I liked the screen on the unit.  i am more than pleased, it has worked with every cable box I’ve had over the years, works with an old stereo I seldom used, and the BluRay/DVD I seldom use anymore.  Expensive, but worth it, new remotes seem cheap in comparison.

I ordered an AEM fuel pump. It'll be here Thursday from Florida. I also ordered a corrugated submersible fuel line so I can install the pump in my stock hanger with a new line. Estimated to arrive 18 April. Oof.

Amazon has shifted their distribution centers to focus on essentials, and it means everything else has been put on the back burner. My understanding is that it’s not that they are slowing down, but rather they’ve hit the limit on where they can ramp up (though they are working on expanding that), and low priority items aren’t going out.

Amazon has already said that non-essential in-stock merchandise is on a 2-3 week ship time and any affiliate / fulfillment merchandise will not be restocked at their warehouses for something like the next 2- 3 months. Once they sell out of whatever’s there, that’s it. The affiliates can direct ship or they can sell on another platform.

I’ve got a Harmony Ultimate One I was gonna put on ebay if you want it.

I needed a Chromebook as I gave mine to my daughter and my partners kids need them for home school stuff at their dad’s next week. I found the only one that would get here Monday (must be in the local warehouse) and luckily it was one I’d consider. Otherwise it was a week to a month out. Locally they are all sold out other than expensive models. Some of the boredom curing stuff I ordered won’t be here until end of April...really hope it’s not needed then.

Yeah definitely prioritizing necessities, shockingly my pressure cooker cheesecake pan is delayed to some time in mid April...

Thanks, but I actually already have one. Despite the picture, my Amazon order is just for the battery to rescue the broken one I found for next to nothing at the Goodwill Outlet eons ago. The battery swelled up and the previous owner attempted to get it out but gave up and donated it, but not before breaking the latch on the cover. I’m just trying to resurrect this one at minimal expense.

But I want it NOW! ( you just know that there are some idiots lacking empathy  out there that are whining this sentiment at this very moment...)

My toys can wait. I’d rather that they prioritize what resources they have on medical and food items at this critical time.

Yeah anything non essential is showing a delivery date of April 21 from what I’ve seen.  So be it, as long as they can get essential stuff out to folks, it’s a good deal.

Yeah, I had a few left over from remodeling.  I ended up keeping one for us and gave the rest to my Sister in law for her work.  She’s a radiologist and they were making their techs work without masks because they were out.  And no surprise, now those techs are all sick.  The shortsightedness of some people is just amazing sometimes.

Meanwhile, don’t let Amazon become the only supplier in your world. Check Newegg, Microcenter, Frys, specialty battery stores, or even Walmart and Target. For those times when you might need it right now, it’s worth supporting these other channels so they’ll (hopefully) be there for you later.
